Tokyo Game Show 2020: Nintendo Unveils New Gameplay and Trailer for Hyrule Warriors
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is becoming the game to watch for a tumultuous Fall 2020 season in the gaming industry. This reboot of the Wii U title, of the same name, gives the title a new coat of paint with updated mechanics and plot that fall more in line with the direction Nintendo is taking the story/series from this point on. At the Tokyo Game Show, Nintendo unveiled a new trailer, and gameplay for the game that came as a shock to many as a release for the series this year.
In comparison to the surprise trailer released at the beginning of the month, this second trailer goes into the four main playable characters that will fight alongside Link in a battle that is set 100 years BEFORE the events of Breathe of the Wild. This finally cements the story firmly within the timeline of the series. For Nintendo to have made this game such a surprise, has a potential two fold reasoning. One of them being that: the events that unfold in this game connect to events that will take place in the future untitled Breathe of the Wild sequel (set to release next year). Second possibility is that: this game was an update they'd planned as a reboot of an old system title and give fans something to whet their appetite in anticipation of new game.
Whichever is the reasoning, Nintendo didn't just leave fans with just a 'new' trailer, but also did a more thorough gameplay unveiling a unannounced playable character.
Impa, while playing an intergral part to the levelling of your character in Breathe of Wild, is now a fully playable character, that assists in the fight against Calamity Ganon and his forces.
